My name is Kshitija Jadhav (KJ). I am 26, married, a homemaker, living in the Chicagoland area. I am so glad to introduce myself to you all through my first blog post of The Orange Plates.

My first steps into the world of blogging were through Instagram. I created The Orange Plates as a creator account on Instagram as a hobby just after I got married and moved to Chicago from India in 2019.

I started to love doing this, as this is a creative outlet for me to express my love for all things food, eating, and cooking. And so, I decided to pursue my passion by starting this blog. Also, I want to connect better with my Instagram family through this platform. My main goal for the blog is to share my recipes, cooking tips, travel as a foodie, places I recommend to eat, and everything foodie.

The Orange Plates depicts my life as a foodie because food is always on my mind. I love to cook most days of the week. The other days I either dine out with my husband or he cooks for both of us.

I am not a trained cook, in fact, I couldn’t make anything other than instant noodles until I was 18. I learned cooking by observing my mom, my aunts, and most importantly, my multi-cultured roommates that I lived with, in my young adult age. So when it comes to my cooking, it is mostly a fusion of multiple traditional recipes, and I think that’s the best part about it.

Although my passion for food makes it a little difficult, I try to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I am always keen on trying different restaurants in the town. Thanks to my husband who has all the patience while I decide what and where to eat, especially during the weekends.

Whenever I travel, I love to explore the local food joints more than the fine-dine ones. Those cute little cafes give me great pleasure. Also, my travel itinerary always has more “where to eat” options than “what to see” ones.

I am sure there are so many of you out there who can relate to what I am up to. Feel free to connect with me via email on theorangeplates@gmail.com and I will soon get in touch with you!

xx
